MIJPLS: Editor and Reviewer Policy

To maintain the highest scientific and ethical standards at the MEDEXILLENCE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF PHARMACY AND LIFE SCIENCES (MIJPLS), the roles of Editors and Reviewers are crucial. This policy outlines their duties and responsibilities.

I. Editorial Policy

The Editorial Board leads the journal’s operations, ensuring fairness, transparency, and quality control at every stage of the publication process.

      1. Duties of Editors

  • Fair Play and Impartiality: Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, religious beliefs, political affiliations, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
  • Confidentiality: Any submitted manuscript must be treated as confidential. Editors must not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and potential reviewers.
  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The decision must be guided by the journal’s policies, adherence to legal requirements, and most importantly, the peer review reports. Editors must assess the manuscript’s significance, originality, clarity, and suitability within the journal’s scope.
  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from considering manuscripts where they have a potential conflict of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors.
  • Corrections and Retractions: When significant errors are discovered in a published work, Editors are obligated to coordinate with the authors to promptly publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or errata as required.

      2. The Peer Review Process

  • MIJPLS employs a Double-Blind Peer Review process, meaning the identities of the authors are not revealed to the reviewers, and the identities of the reviewers are not revealed to the authors.
  • Editors are responsible for selecting qualified and relevant subject matter experts to conduct the review.
  • Reviewer feedback is the primary basis for the editorial decision to accept, reject, or request revisions for a manuscript.

II. Reviewer Policy

Reviewers provide expert counsel to the Editors, helping to ensure the scientific quality, validity, and coherence of the material published in the journal.

      Duties of Reviewers

  • Promptness and Efficiency: Reviewers who accept a manuscript should complete the review within the specified timeframe. If unable to meet the deadline or if they feel unqualified, they must promptly notify the Editors.
  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not use the information or ideas gained from the review for personal advantage or share the content with others.
  • Objectivity and Constructive Feedback: Reviews should be conducted objectively and offer constructive and well-supported criticism to help the authors improve their work. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
  • Quality and Relevance Check: Reviewers must assess whether the research is methodologically sound, the conclusions are supported by the data, and the literature citations are relevant and complete.
  • Ethical Vigilance: Reviewers should be alert to any instances of Plagiarism, redundant publication, or other forms of publication misconduct and report these concerns directly to the Editor.
  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where they have any competing interests resulting from collaboration or competition with the authors, or any other relationship that could bias their judgment.
